Vanderbilt Libraries: Here to Help You

The libraries on campus are here for you to take advantage of. You can get help with research and reference questions by sending an email or dropping by the library and talking to a librarian, who can help you find the best resources for your research project. You can also use the libraries' many scholarly databases to help you locate articles and other materials that are the best fit for your needs. Either way, take advantage of the library. We are here to help you succeed at Vanderbilt!

New York Times Movie Section

The New York Times -- for better or worse -- is generally considered the premier mainstream filter of choice for film criticism and writing in the United States. Here you will find a generous sampling of recent articles from the newspaper's stable of cinema writers and critics, including Dave Kehr, Manohla Dargis, and A.O. Scott.

New DVDs at GIMS

Browse the latest additions to the Central Library's DVD/media collection! Please note that some popular titles may be on reserve for classes during the semester. Check the film's ACORN record to find out whether the title is available for checkout by looking at the location note. If it reads MFM-RESERV, the film is on reserve for a course. You may view the DVD in the library if it not being used by someone else. But you can't check it out till it goes off reserve, which typically means the end of the semester. (Continually updated dynamic list of DVD acquisitions is courtesy of Brian Boling at Government Information and Media Services.)
